Sax-why are all the old rock and roll players tenor men? does anyone know an alto on an old r&r record?

I only have an alto, and don't want to fork out a grand for a tenor, but would like to be flexible enough to play rock and roll if required. Does anyone have any tips? cheers.|||I've forwarded your question to a sax pal of mine - so might edit this if I get any clues of him :)
