Is rock and roll considered rock or pop?

Im doing a project and im a bit confused. I would assume rock and roll is rock because of the name but people keep saying it with pop music. Can someone clarify?|||pop is short for "popular." so rock can be both.|||Well, reaaally, it's either, although that doesn't help. I'll explain, its all rock, but the popular stuff can be in pop as well. Pop only stands for popular, so any genre can also be pop music, like the red hot chilli peppers, they're pop, but rock too.





Genres are a total pain, I usually ignore them, people get so many stupid ones invented, just look at the sub genres of metal or something..

so yeah, your music is rock and maybe pop, or maybe its something else too?|||uhh what kind of question is that rock n roll is rock pop is popular mainstream rock there to totally different things rock you actually get laid pop you become a pedaphile if u sleep with any of the girls ccheering u on and the crowds are totally different rock is hot chicks and awesome musicians guys and pop is little 11-13 year old pre teen little boys and girls who think they know what good music is|||Rock N' Roll is Rock N' Roll, it's a genre, Rock came from it.





Pop is not just popular, if a Rock band were popular it wouldn't automatically make them pop.
