Which of these two bands are more rock and roll?

Pink Floyd or The Rolling Stones? I'm not necessarily asking for which one is better, unless you want to give your opinion. but i'm wondering which one is more known as being rock and roll?|||Pink Floyd = progressive rock / psychedelic rock

Rolling Stones = good ol' fashioned rock and roll.|||The easiest way to answer this is to think of the Rolling Stones song "Satisfaction." It's a classic that's endured for 40 years. What band sang, "It's only rock 'n' roll, but I like it..." Yep, the Rolling Stones.

I grew up with both bands. I love both bands. Pink Floyd IS a rock band, but it's more about mood, about atmospherics, ambience, playing with sound. Their music is exploratory. It's great for smoking pot to. Give a listen to Ummagumma. Wow. Towards the end, David Gilmour and Roger Waters really went in different directions. Gilmour favored the more delicate, well-constructed songs. Waters (who was the driving force behind The Wall) became more angry and political. Their diverging attitudes is what brought about the demise of Pink Floyd as we knew it in its original incarnation.

The Rolling Stones have, well, always been about rock 'n' roll. Whether it's the rock hits from the '60s, to the rock of Exile on Main Street or Sticky Fingers, up to the most recent A Bigger Bang, the Rolling Stones have been about ROCK. Not politics, not emotional angst, not alienation, but about love, sex, music, cars, girls, rebellion, raising hell, partying -- all the essentials that are the engine that drives true rock 'n' roll.

So, yes, I love Pink Floyd, but if I want some true rock 'n' roll, I'll let the Rolling Stones "Start Me Up!"

(I can't get no...............SATISFACTION!)|||The Rolling Stones... by far. They're pretty much the definitive rock and roll band.

Pink Floyd is one of the less "rock and roll" of the classic rock bands, along with other progressive rock, which takes more influence from jazz and classical than the blues, country, soul, and folk of the Stones.|||Rolling Stones are more Rock and Roll

Pink Floyd is Progressive Rock

So while the Stones are back with the roots of Rock Pink Floyd sort of pushed the envelope and expiremented with different sounds that moved further away from what we call Rock and Roll|||The Rolling Stones is defiantly rock 'n' roll.

Pink Floyd is considered to be under the rock category but its not true rock n roll.|||Pink Floyd had much more Psych/ Progressive qualities to their music than the Stones did, though the group did deliver some psychedelic qualities to Their Satanic Majesties Request, which is an album of theirs.|||Rolling Stones is a more typical rock and roll band. Pink Floyd is really in a category of its own. That is what makes them so damn good.|||The Rolling Stones,Pink Floyd is more there own think but in my opinion the stones define rock along with zeppelin|||rolling stones just when u hear that name ur like ROCK ON! but yea pink floid is cool but i think the rolling stones are more rock and roll|||Rolling Stones

Pink Floyd play kinda very soft music........|||Rolling Stones|||Rolling Stones|||The Rolling Stones|||The Rolling Stones|||The Rolling Stones. People forget what a great band they were. During their peak, in my opinion 1968 - 1973 they would have blown any band off the stage!|||I would say The Rolling Stones. Both are great bands though.|||The Rolling Stones but their both great bands|||Pink Floyd is more "psychedelic rock," not so much rock 'n' roll.|||pink floyd|||Well, I have seen them both in concert..my favorite is Rolling Stones..they are more Rock and Roll...but Pink Floyd was awesome in concert.
