What are the differences between Rock and Roll and Heavy Metal?

Rock and Roll (y'know, 80's, Elvis Presley, The Beatles and also old Rock n' Roll)

Heavy Metal (Metallica, BFMV, DragonForce, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Helloween) etc.

Explain the main difference.|||LOTS of volume!|||Let's see, Heavily Distorted Guitar, Fast Solos, Shredding, Head-Banging Music... yep, all self-explanitory. Also, you can't compare the music, comparing old schol Heavy Metal *By the way, Metallica is Thrash, BFMV is Hardcore/Metalcore, Dragon Force is Power/Speed Metal, and Pantera 'Early' is Power Metal and 'Late' Groove Metal* and old school Rock and Roll is like comparing Judas Priest to Dying Fetus, it's the musical differences in sounds that are different, the obvious ones of course. There are some mixtures of Metal and Rock and Roll like Death and Roll.|||Rock 'n' Roll is a form of music that started in the 1950's. By the late 1960's the term was shortened to just Rock. Heavy Metal is a type of Rock 'n' Roll.|||80s is more heavy metal than rock n roll.
