On which criteria the bands are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

A few months ago, I found the page with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees and inductees. I also see that there are not only rock bands, there are also rap, disco, and other genres bands. How that comes? And what is the criteria they induct the bands?|||- They can't be progressive or art rock.

- They, however, can be jazz fusion, rap, disco, and soul.

- They must've released their first album 25 or more years ago in the past.

...And I think that's it.|||They have to be around for 25 years, and they have to be nominated by some random committee headed by the guy who owns the Hall.

This committee tends to be a little out of touch, and ever since they first decided to diversify the nominees by going cross-genre with it, it's gotten even more ridiculous (say, like Abba and LL Cool J getting nominated before Alice Cooper or Deep Purple when they've both been eligible for over 15 years now...)
