Who were the key performers, songs and promotors of the rock and roll era? When Rock and Roll first came about who where the major people? I know Elvis but who else started it?|||Pasted from a previous answer of mine- seriously, read and learn.
Decent article- extract:
"The early rock era lasted until the early 1960s, by which time it was beginning to seem a dead end. New blood and strength came thanks to the Beatles, four young men from Liverpool who revolutionised the form with their song writing.................................鈥?area they touched on was psychedelia, music inspired by the use of drugs, and that found its full flowering in 1967 with the hippies in San Francisco."

Commonly, The Crew Cuts get the nod from those in the know with their hit "Sha Boom" as being the first rock song. I personally go with Chuck Berry and a few of his first efforts as the spark which lit the rock and roll fire. Alan Freed gets the credit for coining the term "Rock And Roll" so how do you deny him as the pioneer promoter. His rock stage shows were outta sight. But,ask a dozen people and you'll get a dozen answers.|||Chuck Berry
Jerry Lee Lewis
Buddy Holly|||before Elvis.it was Bill Haley and the comets.they do say they started Rock and Roll.so they say.

How John Lennon revolutionized rock and roll?
Im doing a project for school and how exactly did John revolutionize rock and roll? THANKS!|||Firstly through the Beatles, then as a solo artist,he made us all think about hings more deeply than before, love, peace, equality, women's rights,Black rights ,freedom of speech hence - Imagine.
His song "revolution" is a shining example of where he was taking his art in 1968. He had the midas touch to move people with his music, which is very difficult to do,unless your extremely talented and have a burning desire to change the world,in which he did|||Did he? It must of been when he said something about the Beatles being higher or closer to God than Jesus. Or something like that.|||I dunno...
how did he?
you're the one who chose that
Just get all teary eyed and say "he taught us to imagine ='s"
or some crap like that...

What is a good audition song that is Rock and Roll style?
I'm trying out for a production called "All Shook Up," and I have to try-out with 32 measures of a 1950's Rock and Roll type peice? My vocal range is about a II Soprano, but I'm pretty flexible. Any ideas at all would be great! ~Thanks!|||I like Meatloaf - I would do anything for love, okay that's not fifties, how about "Dancing in the streets?"

What should I dress up as for rock and roll day and for character day?
This week is homecoming week, and we have a rock and roll day and a character day and I don't know what I should wear!|||For rock and roll you could just dress up as any female rock and roll star but for character day it really depends on you and what you like. First think about what your favourite movie is (not the comedy ones) and then think of a character you could play from that and then dress up as it! Good luck.
